Kanazawa is a castle town and largest city of the Hokuriku region with a population of 450,000. The city lies near the base of the Noto-hanto penninsula on the Sea of Japan side of Honshu Island. Kanazawa is the Prefectorial Capital of Ishikawa Prefecture. |

Click on an attraction to the left to see our pictures of that area of Kanazawa. We visited Kanazawa in late October, 2006. We spent three days here, but we were on a mission to also see nearby Toyama and Yatsuo, my father-in-laws birthplace. The weather was beautiful (rained only one evening) and started raining the day we left on our way to Gifu-shi, Gifu Prefecture. Without a doubt, Kanazawa deserves more time and is on our re-visit list. Next time we would like to go further up the Noto-hanto penninsula that jets out into the Sea of Japan. |
